What is Data360?

Data360 is the World Bank Group’s new data portal, offering the most comprehensive, reliable, and integrated one-stop-shop for development data. By consolidating up to 300 million data points and introducing new search and analytics functions, it aims to enhance accessibility and usability of World Bank Group-wide and partner data for client countries, partners, World Bank staff, and the global community. Data360 is a World Bank Group-wide initiative, spearheaded by The Development Economics Vice Presidency (DEC), the World Bank Senior Managing Director (SMD), all five World Bank Vertical Vice Presidencies: Prosperity, People, Planet, Infrastructure, and Digital; the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidency, together with the World Bank Departments for Outcomes, and Knowledge. 

What are the goals of Data360?

Data360 aims to improve the coherence and quality of the production, management, and dissemination of development data produced and used by the World Bank Group. It is designed to make key data easier to discover, and to enable better use of essential data relevant to a range of users, from World Bank Group operational teams to policymakers and academics. This supports evidence-based decision-making and ensures that the wealth of information available is easy to access and better informs analysis, strategic planning, and policy action. 

How is Data360 different from the World Bank Group’s current data portals?

Data360 sources, harmonizes, organizes, quality-assures, documents, and consolidates datasets and indicators from across the World Bank Group, giving users access to 40 times more data than was previously available. Through its enhanced, AI-powered search functions and user-friendly advanced analytical tools, Data360 makes exploring social, economic, and sustainable development insights a breeze. Each data point is fully AI-ready, meaning it has been verified, harmonized, quality-assured, and attached to machine-readable documentation. All that makes this new portal the most comprehensive, reliable, and integrated one-stop-shop for development data globally. 

How does Data360 align with the World Bank Group’s efforts to become a better Bank?

The World Bank Group is renewing its approach to knowledge, ensuring that the best global knowledge can help drive development, create scalable projects, and influence global conversations. As the World Bank Group’s Knowledge Compact, recognizes, to better harness the power of data for development, we need to make development data more accessible and user-friendly for our staff, client countries, partners, and the wider world. Data360 is at the core of these efforts.

What are Data360’s key features?

  • Data Integration: Data360 is an integrated ecosystem for development data production, storage, management, and dissemination, including offering enterprise-grade data systems, tools, standards, and processes. Data360 thus offers a single, integrated, coherent World Bank Group data portal with a dedicated space for each of the Bank’s five Thematic Verticals (Digital, Infrastructure, People, Planet, and Prosperity), showcasing curated data topics, featured datasets, country analytics, and resources from across Global Practices and Regions. 
  • Leveraging the Bank’s Data Catalog: Data360 is built on top of the Bank’s single point of truth, the Bank’s Data Catalog, and uses its data storage and cataloging.
  • Data Quality: Data360 rises to the highest global standards of data quality by ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of indicators. All datasets available in Data360 have been cleaned, harmonized, standardized, and documented to fully conform to the newly Board-approved WBG Policy on Development Data Quality.
  • Data Discoverability: Data360 leverages AI to put all of Data360’s data at users’ fingertips and allow for greater disaggregation, making development data easier to access and discover.
  • Advanced Analytics: Data360 enables users to create custom data reports for academics and policy makers.
  • Comprehensive Resources: Data360 offers easy-to-use data visualization tools, factsheets, and AI-enabled search capabilities to provide users with quick access to reliable data.
  • Scorecard Alignment: Data360 and the Bank’s Scorecard are tightly aligned, ensuring integration and consistency between the two initiatives.
  • User-centric: Data360’s functionality has been shaped by user input, leveraging broad and ongoing user engagements and feedback. This effort includes enhancements to benchmarking, products, tools, maps, apps, and more.
  • Single Entry Point: Data360 is being integrated with the Bank’s primary data site, data.worldbank.org, capitalizing on the platform’s high visibility among users (generating 90 million views per year) to maximize discoverability and use of World Bank Group data and analytics.

What are Data360’s key functionalities?

Through its enhanced search function, Data360 puts all its data at users’ fingertips and allows for greater disaggregation, making the World Bank Group’s data easier to access and discover. Its advanced analytics enable users to create customized data reports and visualizations with ease. And Data360’s comprehensive resources—including easy-to-use data visualization tools, factsheets, and reports—provide easy access to reliable data.

Data360 offers Economy profiles, Thematic sections, Data&Resources, Analytics, and Custom Reports, with the following key features:

Everything in one place: Now, in the Themes section, staff can finally access curated datasets, country analytics, and key indicators from each vertical: Digital, Infrastructure, People, Planet, Prosperity. Bank staff can explore all these insights and more—by country, region, and trend—faster than ever before.

  • A 360-degree view of any economy: The new Economy Profile provides a complete picture of economic and social development—whether staff is looking at education, infrastructure, climate, or public finance, they can seamlessly access curated analytics, benchmarking tools, and country comparisons.
  • Custom reports & data for impact: In the Data & Resources section, Bank staff can choose from thousands of indicators and create their own custom reports in just a few clicks. Analytics section offers over 2,000 reports on economic and social trends.
  • Futureproof data: Each data point is fully AI-ready—verified, harmonized, quality-assured (in line with the Bank’s new data quality policy), and attached to source documentation.

Some datasets and indicators are provided by third parties, and may not be redistributed or reused without the consent of the original data provider, or may be subject to terms and conditions that are different from those described above. Where applicable, these conditions are included in the dataset or indicator metadata.

Data and metadata included in the Data360 that are not produced by the World Bank, but retrieved from external sources are redistributed for informational purposes only. The redistribution of this data does not constitute an endorsement, approval, or verification of its quality, accuracy, methodology, or any other characteristic by the World Bank. Users of this data assume full responsibility for any conclusions drawn or decisions made based on its use.
